The word on the street is that a challenge match between a team made up of some of
the younger players in Arizona and a team made up of some of the older legends in
Arizona, may be in the works. The Arizona Pool Scene may be jumping the gun a little
bit by publishing this "rumor" but we gotta do what we gotta do. We didn't create this
site in order to hold "news" back! We hear that the teams may be five players strong
with five different games on the docket for the challenge with some kind of scotch
format to end the challenge. We also understand that this is planned to be an annual
event and will most definitely be played on the 9' foot tables. Now, since we have
already let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, let's dig ourselves further in the hole by
mentioning a few names. Jimmy Mendoza, Tony Confalone, Mike Pankoff, Terry
Osborne, Tres "The Big Daddy" Kane, Donnie Westbrooks, and a few others were
mentioned. Here's hoping that this event does become a reality and let us tell you
why. An event like this will offer the pool players in Arizona something to watch unlike
anything they have ever watched in Arizona before. We all know how huge the North
vs. South Cactus Cup Challenge has gotten over the past five years. There is no
reason to believe an event pitting the young vs. the "older" will not become extremely
popular in a very, very, short time. The folks that are talking about making this event
happen will need to get a number of things done before this idea actually becomes
reality. One thing they need to do is name it. If you, the reader, have any ideas along
this line, e-mail them to us and we will pass your idea along to those in charge of
trying to pull this event off.

The date for the "Young Guns" vs. "The Legends" has been set for May 6th & 7th,
