AWBT Annual 8-Ball Scotch Doubles Tournament – Time Out Lounge – February 18, 2006

16 teams came out for our annual Scotch Doubles fund raiser tournament at Time Out Lounge in Tempe, Arizona. The game was
8-ball and the plan of attack was to have FUN!

Reigning champions Diana Clayton and Louie Fratini returned to defend their title.  Diana and Louie beat all of their competitors
by large margins and made their way to the hot seat to play Linda McBride and Collin Walker. Linda and Collin put up a good
fight, but Diana and Louie ended up winning the match 4 to 2, winning the hot seat.

While Diana and Louie waited for their next match, several teams were battling it out. Kristie Ortega and Scott Waterhouse first
beat out Teresa Eibner and Brian Shepard for 4th place.  Then, Kristie and Scott met up with Linda McBride and Collin Walker.
Linda and Collin wanted another shot at Diana and Louie, and you could tell as you watched them easily take out Kristie and
Scott with a score of 3 to 1.

Linda and Collin would need to face Diana and Louie yet again, and this time it would be for 1st place. Would this be a repeat for
Diana and Louie?  Or would Linda and Collin be the new champion team.  Since this was a true double elimination tournament,
Linda and Collin would have to beat Diana and Louie in 2 races to 4 to win the tournament.

Diana and Louie took off to a quick 1-0 lead but then it seemed to go Linda and Collin’s way as they won the next 3, making it 3 to
1.  However,  Diana is one of the most tenatious people I’ve ever seen play the game.  She doesn’t get rattled and neither did her
partner.  They fought and fought and came back.  They won the next 3 games which won them the set, the match, and the repeat
victory, and a total of $265 in prize monies!  Congratulations you two! We look forward to seeing you next year for a threepeat!

Congratulations goes out to Linda and Collin who both played extraordinarily well all day and took home 2nd place and $145 in
prize monies!

Rounding out the rest of the top four teams were: Krisite Ortega and Scott Waterhouse (3rd place, $90) and Teresa Eibner and
Brian Shepard (4th place, $50).

Since this was a fund raiser, we also had a fundraising side pot contest in which teams paid $5 to enter and the winner received
half the pot.  We raised a total of $70, so $35 went to the winning team Diana and Louie and the other $35 went to the AWBT
points fund.

This wouldn’t be a fund raiser without our Crock Pot Contest!  Since the board members were the only people who brought food,
we decided not to compete against each other and donate all of the proceeds raised to the AWBT points fund. We raised a total of
$59! Thanks to everyone for supporting the AWBT and buying food!

Thank you to Laura for hosting us and to Jenna and Lucie at Time Out Lounge for your help and making this tournament a great
event for all of us.

We hope to see you all at our next tournament at On the Snap in Prescott Valley on March 18th and 19th for our 2nd WPBA 9-ball
qualifier. For more information about this next event – contact Dawn Anderson at (480) 272-2016.
