Opinion #13

The first thing I would like to address is the closing of Alexander’s. We in Yuma were deeply saddened to hear of this.
Thank you Ron for all the events you sponsored over the years and for the way you made us feel at home in your bar.
We wish the best for you and your wife in whatever you do from this point forward.
As for the Payson tournament, all the players and family members from Yuma had an exceptionally good time, and like
the hotel/casino very much. I’m happy we will be back there for future tournaments. Our thanks to Mike, Bull, and
Chuck for all their hard work in putting on this tournament.
As too the controversy regarding the team requirements, I would like to offer a possible solution. I suggest for every
master player on a team, a 1 game spot be imposed, example: team 1 has no master players, team 2 has 3 master
players, therefore the race would be 13 to 10. My thinking on this is a master player should be worth a 1 game spot or
should not be in the master division.
This is a STATE TOURNAMENT and not an 8 and under state tournament, therefore no one should be excluded based on
skill level. However, we should be able to balance the playing field so some players don’t feel so overwhelmed. I
personally don’t want to use up my vacation time and drive half way across the state to play competion I can play in my
own league system. The last bit of advise I’d like to give is remember, anyone can win 1 game, approach every match
this way and you will have more success in future events.
