The 2007 North vs. South Cactus Cup Challenge will take place over the first two Sundays in
March. The dates are March 4th and March 11th. The first leg of the challenge will take place at
Alexander's Sports Bar on March 4th while the second and final leg of the 2007 challenge will
take place at Main Street Billiards in Tucson on March 11th.
This challenge started in 2001 and the North has won five of the six challenges over the years.
Ron Merseal and Bob Jackson put up $2000.00 for the winning team to split. The Cactus Cup
trophy is awarded to the winning team every year and stays at the winning sponsors room for the
entire year.
Ron Merseal announced his 2007 team this week. The following players will represent the North
Squad playing out of Alexander's Sports Bar. The format of the challenge calls for each squad to
have ten players. The players have to be two players of the ratings 6 through 10 and each squad
is required to have at least two female players.
