| Tony & Bernie Win 2006 AzBCA State Mixed Scotch Doubles Championship |
On September 23rd and 24th, 2006 at Metro Sportz Bar,
the AzBCA held their 2006 AzBCA Mixed Scotch
Doubles 8-Ball Championship. The tournament drew
thirty-four teams.
Tony Confalone & Bernie Store won the tournament in
a two set final over Tres Kane & Sara Miller.
As Tony & Bernie, who held the hot seat, waited for
their finals opponent, the battle on the one loss side
took place with the one loss side winner advancing to
the finals. Tres Kane & Sara Miller earned the one loss
side win and advanced to the finals when they defeated
Verland French & Terri Johnson McCauley leaving
Vernon & Terri with a third place finish. Bobby Ast &
Jodie Villegas finished fourth in the tournament while
Larry Eans & Diana Clayton and Dick Breese & Karen
Burgess had to settle for 5th/6th. Steve Jaskewitz &
Marita Incalcaterra and Brett Smith & Noel Rima
finished 7th/8th.
Tres & Sara, extended the finals to a second and
deciding set when they defeated Tony & Bernie in the
first set of the finals. However, Tony & Bernie ended
the roll that Tres & Sara were on when they won the
second set of the finals to capture the 2006 AzBCA State
Mixed Scotch Doubles Championship.
Once again it should not be overlooked that the top two
places and three of the top four places, in this
tournament, were won by teams qualifying and playing
BCA League out of Alexander's Sports Bar.
