Alexander's Sports Bar, located at 3603 W. Dunlap in Phoenix,
followed up their extremely successful $100.00 entry per team
scotch doubles tournament they held in May with another one just
like it on August 26th and 27th, 2006. The format called for the
teams to not exceed 18 in their team rating and was a double
elimination 9-Ball tournament. The race was total team handicap
minus (8).
Twenty teams started, all looking to capture the pot of gold at the
end. This event paid $2,095.00 to the winners. Bernie Store and her
partner Tony Norem played for the hot seat and lost that match to Mel
Kirsh and Dan Bajic. However, when Bernie and Tony escaped the
losers bracket and got into the finals the outcome of the finals
matches were a little different the second time around. Tony and
Bernie blew away Mel and Dan in both sets of the finals to capture
the win and the huge payday.
Bob Samuelson and James Shepherd finished third while Derek
Cumm and his partner Dustin, rounded out the top four places.
Evans Bishop and Justine Karber & Dana Moore and Terry Tucker
placed in a tie for 5th/6th.
As mentioned above, first place paid $2095.00 including a winner
take all $40 side pot of $560.00. Second place for Dan & Mel paid
$820.00 while third place for Bob & James was $435.00. Derek &
Dustin won $195.00 for finishing in fourth. Keep your eyes peeled to
this web site for information about the next "Extreme Scotch" at
Alexander's. This tournament was the second one this summer at
Alexander's that paid over $2000.00 to the winners.
