This is not a story about who won the 2006 Enjoypool.com 9-Ball Championships,
the Pro event held at the Riviera in conjunction with the 2006 BCA Nationals, but is a
story about who did not win. Jasmin Ouschan defeated Allison Fisher in the finals of
this event and it is important that we note that. However, Arizona's own Angel Paglia
made some noise of her own in that tournament, and we here at the Arizona Pool
Scene think the success Angel had in this tournament should not be over looked.
Angel finished 13/16 out of a field of 64 of the best female players in the world.
Angel won her first two matches in the tournament by identical scores of 9-7. The
two players Angel sent to the one-loss side in these matches were Loree Jon Jones
and Karen Corr. That's a current Hall Of Famer and a future Hall Of Famer.
Angel suffered a third round loss, then scored another huge win over Monica Webb
by the score of, you guessed it, 9-7. Angel was then eliminated from the tournament
and forced to settle for 13th/16th when she lost to Sarah Ellerby.
Congratulations Angel! It really looks like you have your game close to where you
want it. It's just a matter of time before a future article will be about who did win the
tournament.........and about you!
