Breaking News #238
Back in Round 6, Jude matched up with undefeated Derrick. And the two battled back and forth at a very quick pace. The score was tied at 6, then again at 8 - 8. Derrick had a chance to run out the remaining balls but dogged the 9 ball and left a routine shot for Jude for the win. Derrick bounced back with a win in his next match before the real drama started to unfold. Mike Howerton was sitting just 1 match win behind Derrick and had yet to play heads up. With a win here Derrick would open a 2 game lead with only 2 matches remaining and Mike would be out of it.
Mike wins the flip and proceeds to run out the 1st rack. Derrick gets to the table in rack 2, but has to kick at the 1. Then his next shot is a Jump Shot followed by a difficult long rail cut. But his offense failed him on a difficult 5 and Mike took a quick 2 - 0 lead. Derrick starts to get things going but scratches in the next game, then Mike misses a long 9 ball shot to let Derrick on the board. After a few more racks, they were tied at 5. Mike combo's the 9 in rack 11 and Derrick runs 3 balls and dogs the 8, only to see Mike rattle it back. That would be the last rack he would win as Mike won 2 in a row and Derrick missed the 9 for the win. Derrick shows some of his character by grabbing the light and makes a crazy face to the camera.
This is when things got interesting. Jude needed to win out and have both Derrick lose to Todd, and Mike lose to Brady for him to get into the finals along with Carlos. Below is Todd vs Derrick:
Jude handles his match 9 - 5 against Andy and has time to jump in the booth and root for his players. Todd knocks Derrick out with a 9 - 7 win and in the back table you see Brady and Mike battling back and forth. And to even make Jude sweat a little more the match went hill-hill. If Mike Wins he is in the finals with Carlos, if Brady Wins Jude sneaks in. Brady pulls off the upset, sending Mike home with no cash.
In the finals, Jude faced off verse Carlos with each man winning 7 of 9 matches on the day. Carlos didn't even have to play his 9th match against Jason as he was locked in 1st place.
Part 2:
Carlos takes the victory and $600 for 1st place. Jude settles for $150 with a score of 9 - 5.
