Breaking News #203
2008 Arizona BCA State Team Championships
The Cops and Robbers jumped out to a commanding lead by winning the first 9 games before X-factor started to
come alive and put together there first win.  At 11 - 1, it looked like the Cops and Robbers let off the accelerator a
little and that was all that X-factor needed as they strung together the next 6 wins to get back into it.  Mitch Ellerman
won his next game to get to the hill at 12 - 7.  And Mike Williams ended X-Factor's run at 13 - 7.  X-Factor took home
$550 for there 4th place finish.

In the next match the White Rhino's looked to be sleeping as again the Cops and Robbers ran out to a huge lead.
They definitely wanted a rematch with the team that sent them to the one-lose side.  The White Rhino's were sent
back to Prescott with an impressive 3rd place finish and $900.

In the finals the wind that was behind Crazy Earls's sail had finally run out as the Cops and Robbers were extremely
hungry and showed why they are all top players in the State.  In this true double elimination format they would have to
seek vengeance twice to gain the title, and that is exactly what they did, with scores of 13 - 6 and 13 - 4 to become
the 2008 AZ BCA Team Champions.  Congratulations to Crazy Earls 2 for there 2nd place finish and $1200.  The
Champs took home $1800 for there impressive run to the title.

The men were not the only ones competing this weekend as the women brought teams from all over the state as well.
Including Kitty's Bad Cats 2008 National BCA 8-ball Champion team.  The women would play races to 11 games, just
like in Vegas.  And the two teams that fought to get to the hot seat match were no strangers.  Alexander's 'A-Team'
fought through some tough matches to arrive here to face there inner city rival, Kitty's Bad Cats.  The two teams
traded scores back and forth before Alexander's pulled away to take the hotseat.  Battling out on the one-lose side
was Jackass Bar and Grill out of Prescott Valley and The Snap Lounge.  On Jackass's team was the 2008 Women's
Open Champion, Stevie Caylor and on The Snap was the women's runner-up, Lourdes Lomeli.  This time, Lomeli got
the best of Caylor and sent their team home in 4th.  This setup the battle between Kitty's and The Snap, both teams
fought hard, but Kitty's showed once again why they were National Champs, sending The Snap home without any
money in 3rd place.  Congrat's to Char Alcott, Linda McBride, Doreen Sunn, Lourdes Lomeli and Cecille Villanueva.

4th Place
In the finals, we once
again saw the two phoenix
teams matching up for
another grudge match.
The A-team struck first
with multiple racks and
Kitty's fought back with a
few of there own.  The two
teams went back in forth
but little by little the
A-Team etched out a
game or two and then
held on for the Victory in
one set.  Kitty's Bad Cats
finished in 2nd place and
$650.  Alexander's
A-Team took home the
Championship, $1100
and some much earned
bragging rights.
Congratulations to all the
teams that came out for
the BCA Championships.
We'll be doing it again in
March 2009 in Payson,
AZ.
