Metro Sports Bar and Billiards Does It Again
I often womdered what it would be like to have a tournament and everyone came to play. On
January 18th & 19th with 64 players signed up early and 42 players signing up before this event I
thought ... WOW .. it really happened.
The tournament was Scotch Doubles 9-Ball - race to total AZ combined rating minus seven - Texas
Express Rules with no 3 foul rule - a $20.00 team entry early or $30.00 team entry on the day of the
event combined with a $10.00 - $20.00 and a winner take all $30.00 side pots plus the $500.00
GUARANTEED ADDED MONEY by Metro Sports Bar equaled the large $3700.00 total payout.
We started the draw at 1pm Saturday the 19th - early Sunday morning we were down to (24) players.
These 12 teams ALL IN THE MONEY came back to play on Sunday the 20th at noon.
The winners of this event could have won $1,725.00 if they were in all of the side pots.
This was not to be, as the winners Nick Capaldo and Rick Jones did not enter any of the side pots.
Nick and Rick did however go undefeated for the two day event. Three of their matches went hill,
hill. These two young men played very well together.
The second place team, the father & son joint effort of Harvey & Merle Wilford took home the big
bucks. These two were in all of the side pots. Both of this teams losses were handed to them by
Nick and Rick.
The twelve money winners were as follows:

thanks for the great service by the bar and kitchen staff - the food was excellent as usual.
