Scott Frost, Mike Howerton, Mitch Ellerman
The 2007 Olhausen Arizona All-Around started in January and ended with event #10 on
December 9th at Alexander's in Phoenix. The tour consisted of different formated events at
six different pool rooms located in Arizona. There were ten total events over the year. The six
"rooms" participating in the 2007 tour were Metro Sportz Bar, Alexander's, Kolbys, Main Street
Mesa, Sixshooters, and On The Snap in Prescott, Arizona. Players earned points for each
event they played in. The number of points were based on each players finish in each event.
The money and prizes up for grabs included a Scott Whisler cue to the points winner and
another Scott Whisler cue to the highest finishing women. $1000.00 cash went to the overall
points leader. This cash bonus was provided by Chuck Bobbitt of Visual Impressions.
Olhausen provided a pool table to go to the winner of a random draw. Predator provided a
BK-2 cue to the overall winner.
Going into the final event at Alexander's (Bar Box 9-Ball) the overall points leader was the
"Young Gun" Mitch Ellerman. Mitch held a 150 point lead over Scott Frost. With 200 points
awarded to the winner of each event, it was obvious that all Mitch had to do was finish 7th or
better to close Scott out of the points race. Mitch finished 9th and collected 50 points. The
door was now open for Scott. A first place finish for Scott would earn him 200 points and a tie
for the overall points championship.
With Jimmy Mendoza and Chuck Evans playing for the hot seat, Scott had his work cut out. He
would have to make his way across the one-loss side then he would have to beat Mendoza
and Evans back to back. The order of those matches would be decided by who won the hot
seat match. Evans beat Mendoza for the hot seat. Frost then beat Mendoza to earn a shot at
the tournament win and those much needed 200 points. Scott was up to the task and did
indeed defeat Chuck Evans for the win and the points. Ellerman and Frost were now tied for
the overall points race after 12 months of play.
A random draw of all ten events preceded a playoff between the two champions. Big table
8-Ball was the game drawn to be played. Mitch jumped out to an early lead in the playoff only
to watch Scott fight back and then close Mitch out for the playoff win. Scott Frost did all he
had to do. He won the last leg, forced a playoff, and won the playoff to win the 2007 Olhausen
Arizona All-Around Championship. Congrats to all the players that made the 2007 edition of
this tour a huge success. A special congrats to Scott Frost and Mitch Ellerman.
Susan Williams won the Whisler cue as the highest finishing lady. The pool table was won by
Babe Thompson with a random draw. Scott collected the $1000.00 bonus, a Whisler cue, and
the BK-2 from Predator.
