Team Yuma wins Scotch Triples event at Alexanders
A $2065.00 first place payout was up for grabs at the most recent
tournament played at Alexander's Sports Bar in Phoenix. The
event was played on August 18th & 19th, 2007 and was scotch
triples with a team maximum of (25) ratings points. All teams
rated (25) or (24) had to race to eight games while all teams rated
(23) and under had to race to seven games. The event was a
double elimination 9-Ball tournament and was played on
Alexander's 7' Diamond Smart tables. Alexander's increased the
field from (16) teams to (17) in a effort to keep from having to turn
any players away.
Two teams from Yuma, Arizona, made the trip North to take a shot
at the huge payday and one of those teams did indeed go home
with the money. The Yuma team, consisting of Derick Cumm,
Terry Tucker, and Tony Flores defeated the team of Tom Auston,
Tony Norem, and Dale Teague in a one set finals. The other Yuma
team, consisting of Pete Lhotka, Sean Brooks, and Gary Anderson
took third. Charles Peten, Marvin Lawson, and Don Adams finished
fourth.
The Arizona pool scene congratulates all the cashers. A special thanks to the Yuma players
for making the trip to play in this event. As noted below, the trip turned out to be well worth
it.
Alexander's and co-sponsor, Visual Impressions added $600.00 to the prize fund.
